Daily Briefing

Key Takeaways

• Ukraine's Naval Forces struck Borisoglebsk airfield in Voronezh Oblast with Neptune missiles, destroying 4 Su-34M bombers and damaging 2 more — a significant degradation of Russia's glide-bomb delivery capacity (58 sources corroborated).
• Russia launched nearly 1,000 drones since Oct. 14, including a record 850+ Shaheds in a single 24-hour window; all three Kyiv CHPs have ceased electricity generation, leaving the capital fully dependent on external supply ahead of winter.
• The White House ordered the Pentagon to restrict Ukraine's Starshield satellite access — disrupting drone operations and delaying ballistic missile warnings — while Reuters confirmed the directive originated inside the White House, not the Defense Department.
• Zelensky lifted Ukraine's self-imposed ban on striking Russian oil refineries after Russia violated the informal energy ceasefire by launching 39 ballistic missiles on its third day; Trump called the resumed strikes 'a disgrace.'
• Transatlantic friction deepened: Europe rejected a US proposal to transfer frozen Russian sovereign assets (~€260B) to Washington's control, Trump publicly called Zelensky 'not a good guy,' and US intelligence officials threatened to halt intelligence sharing if Ukraine continued striking Russian energy sites.
